Have you ever been fall in love with a foreign place? That feeling when you were so amazed by its beauty and wanted to stay there for good or if possible create a place like that in your home? That feeling was exactly felt by the businessman who is behind the creation of Petite France. While he was traveling abroad, he fell in love with the beauty of France. From this, He dreams to build a replica of the place in his Country. Little by little he collects French-inspired memorabilia and artworks and in 2008 he finally decides to showcase it to the public by creating this Instagrammable place called Petite France.

Petite France is a French-inspired park located in Gapyeong. It is just 14 km away or about 20-30 minutes ride from Nami Island, which makes it a perfect side trip when you go to Nami Island.  Petite France features 16 different french inspired buildings showcasing Paintings and Sculptures by French artists, a variety of marionettes, various forms of Orgel, and an antique museum wherein you find a wide range of French culture-historical item. It also has a memorial room dedicated to Saint-Exupery, the author or the famous novel “Le Petit Prince or The Little Prince”.

Aside from being known as a French Inspired theme park. Petite France is also known as the setting place for some famous Korean TV Series, like Beethoven Virus, My Love from the Star, Secret Garden, Personal Taste, and even Running Man made this as a setting for one of their episodes. HOW TO GO TO PETITE FRANCE

By Train:

It is a 2 hrs travel from Myeongdong Station to Gapyeong Station.

  • Myeongdong to Dongdaemun History Culture Park
  • Dongdaemun History Culture Park to Gunja
  • Gunja to Sangbong
  • Sangbong to Gapyeong

From Gapyeong Station, you have an option to take a cab or ride the Gapyeong bus.

Gapyeong Bus

  • For 6,000 KRW you can have an unlimited ride on the Gapyeong Bus.
  • Bus Route – Gapyeong Station – Jaraseon Island- Gapyeong Railbike – Nami Island (warf) – Interactive art museum – Petite France – Cheongpyeong Bus station a- Cheongpyeong station- Garden of Morning Calm
  • Make sure to know the bus schedule. The bus has an interval, from 30 – 45 mins. if you miss one, it could ruin your Itinerary

It is the easiest and most convenient way. You don’t need to worry anymore about the availability of public transportation, you just need to go to the meeting place around Seoul and have a relaxing trip going to Nami Island, Petit France, and Garden of the Morning Calm.
